Why Am I Willingly and Happily Eating Something I Know Isn't Healthy For Me?

Why am I sitting here gorging on ... *dun dun dun* PRINGLES?!?!!?!! ..

It has been YEARS, yes plural, since I have eaten Pringles ...

I admit ... IT WAS HIGHLY SATISFYING, and I found myself pondering about the past.

Somehow these Pringles brought forth the comforts of past memories, joyful moments with my family.  Why wouldn't I want to savor something that brings such peaceful joy?

So what does this reveal?

*** "Foods" that provide instant satisfaction are vehicles for something within, that tender spot that yields to sensation, a spot that may lack the nurture it is seeking.***

So what does one do when "lack" surfaces?  That's where Pringles came about.  I was fully absorbed into the experience of eating them.  The saltiness, the texture, the memories of having to hide chips in the closet and under the bed, as my sister and I stealthily eat them, while taking turns looking out for Mom!  It is utterly hilarious and comforting ...  :)

So what do I do now?

Regret, plan to workout even harder?

NO.

RELEASE IT!

*** The trick is to be aware of these IMPULSES, and make a CONSCIOUS DECISION to best suit your intention for health & happiness.

Thus, the next time you find yourself gorging on what you are well aware of as not the healthiest food choice, and that tender spot aches with such passion, ask yourself what you are really feeling or wanting. ***

  • Hunger?
  • Sadness?
  • Comfort?
  • A need for connection and love?

***Is there an option that goes along with your intention for health and happiness?***

Try asking yourself these questions.  It can help you snap out of your fixation and even allow the craving to subside!
