Some Things are Just Out of Our Control, and IT'S OK!

Wouldn't it be great if we could control every single aspect of our life?

Control our own thoughts.
Control the thoughts of others.
Behaviors, situations, everything to our liking.

Clearly this is NOT reality, but to an extent.

TRUTH IS: We are only capable of controlling ourselves, through a clear understanding separate from ego.  If we can understand that the human mind/soul all strive for growth, whether actions come off as "good", "bad", or essentially neutral, then we can realize that we all have the same commonality.

If we feel we deserve personal growth, does it not apply for everyone else?

Here is where selfishness/ ego plays in.

There is a part of us that seeks self-preservation.  It's the animal, biological nature, in us.

We are always grasping for something.  We may blindly seek for whatever it may be, and do what we can to attain it, regardless if our actions hurt others.  The unsatisfactoriness of it all ... drives us.

Have you ever had that calling, or urge for something greater .... something pulling you to question your reality?

This happened to me at a very early age.  Granted, being a child, experiences affect and shape an impressionable mind, but there was always an urge for greater understanding, for purpose.

Do I believe that things come forth by chance?  No.  Things happen because they were placed in alignment with what is needed for growth.  I truly believe that.  I have always felt, even in the darkness, that there was always something protecting me.  I don't need to put a label on it, but it may all boil down to HOPE.

Some people need an EXTERNAL manifestation to help them through difficulties, before they can come to the realization that, the external they believe in, has all along been inherently in themselves. Such as those who grasp towards religion; there is a desire to belong, and knowing that there is something to guide them in this life.

(Hmmm ... expand more in another post.)

Point is, life is ever changing.  Nothing ever remains the same.  Look at the changing seasons.  Look at our bodies as we get older.  How can we grasp onto transitory mind states as well?  That will surely lead to suffering.  Every moment is an experience ready to fade.

Make your purpose in this life what you will.

Life is more than SELF.

More than a significant other.

More than family.

If you lose one or another, life still goes on.

Knowing that shared time is limited, should gives us the courage to appreciate them NOW.

Some things are just out of our control.  If we can understand the truth of impermanence, what will we choose?
